Nicole Haegeman

I’m a psychodynamic psychotherapist and ecotherapy practitioner. I work with people who want a space to slow down, understand themselves more deeply, and make sense of the patterns that keep showing up in their lives. My approach is warm, thoughtful and steady.

My Approach

A winding dirt path through a lush green forest with dense foliage and trees.

My training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on the deeper psychological processes that shape how we think, feel and behave. This includes the influence of past experiences and the unconscious patterns that can continue to affect us, often outside our awareness.

In this approach, we pay attention to both your current concerns and the underlying dynamics that sit beneath them. The therapeutic relationship itself can offer valuable insight; how you experience me, and how we work together, can illuminate patterns that also appear in other parts of your life.

Psychodynamic work aims to help you understand these processes more fully, so that you have greater freedom and choice rather than feeling driven by habits or responses that no longer serve you.

Nature-Connectedness

Alongside indoor work, I also offer ecotherapy. For some people, being outdoors shifts the pace and creates a sense of spaciousness that can support deeper reflection. Nature can hold things that feel harder to touch in a room, grief, overwhelm, questions about belonging and direction.

TRAINING

I hold a Masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling (University of London) and a certificate from WPF. I am currently training in Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) with the Anna Freud Centre and completing training in ecopsychology and nature-based practice, with the intention of offering outdoor sessions in 2026.

I have worked within the NHS and in community counselling services. My background also includes extensive experience in international development, specialising in gender equality, social inclusion and human rights. This broader perspective informs my clinical work and brings an understanding of how individual experience is shaped by culture, systems and social context.

I am registered with BACP and BPC.
